About Haley

Late Model Stock Car Driver

Haley Moody, who is the daughter of the late Jerry Moody, grew up around racing and, when she was a kid, she always wanted to race.  Haley grew up around the likes of Scott Riggs, Jamey Caudill and Matt McCall.

In 2010, at the age of 15, Haley got her opportunity, starting her first ever race at Coastal Plains Raceway in Jacksonville, North Carolina.  She went on to win her first time out and scored three wins that season.  After a successful 2011 season in the Street Stock division at Coastal Plains, she raced part-time in Limited Late Models at Coastal Plains and Southern National Motorsports Park in Kenly, North Carolina.

Haley raced in the Charger division at Southern National in 2013, picking up two wins, finishing second and points and earning “Driver of the Year” honors.  Along with racing at Southern National, she also raced at Ace Speedway and Myrtle Beach Speedway.

At the end of October, Haley’s life was forever changed when her father, Jerry, was diagnosed with stage-four lung cancer.  Knowing that it was not curable, she knew her time with her dad would be cut short. She went to Myrtle Beach Speedway on November 22nd to compete in the Southeast Limited Late Model Series Challenger race with her father in attendance.  It was on that night that Haley made history, scoring the pole for the race and leading wire-to-wire to score her first career Limited Late Model victory – becoming the first female to win a race at Myrtle Beach Speedway.  That moment was a special moment for Haley because it would be the last time she’d celebrate a victory with him.  He passed away on November 24th in the early morning hours.

In 2014, with the help of Jamey Caudill, Charlie Long, Robert Long and friends and family, Haley raced for the championship in her first full-time season in the Limited Late Model division at Southern National Motorsports Park.  With three wins and 13 top-five finishes, Haley did win that championship, becoming the first female Late Model champion in the Southeast region.  Haley’s accomplishments were recognized by NASCAR when she won the Diverse Driver Award.

Along with racing, Haley was also a star athlete in high school, becoming the all-time leading varsity scorer when she played basketball at Bethel Christian Academy in North Carolina.
